Sadly the fine avenue of Horse Chestnut trees has had to be felled. All the trees were diseased, some very badly, and those who looked closely would have seen the increasing number of bare branches which had appeared over the last few years. Following proffessional advice, it was clear that some of the trees had got to a very dangerous state with spliting of the branches away from the main trunk and the attendent risk of them falling on someone or something. Therefore the trees had to be removed for the safety of all the people who come and enjoy the church green and use it for dog walking, football and the like.
